There Comes a Day

There will come a day when this nightmare will be over. The sun will rise over the clouds that surround us and we will emerge from the darkness, eyes squinting in the bright daylight.

There will come a day when the virus that stalks our land will be conquered due to the wisdom and ingenuity of hundreds of scientists around the world as well as the combined efforts of each one of us.

Imagine this day in your mind. Keep that image strong as we continue to live in confusion, fear, and horror now. The current images of overflowing hospitals, refrigerated trucks full of bodies, and masked neighbors are really quite overwhelming; like we are living in a Science Fiction pandemic movie instead of a real one. So to help with the darkness of today- imagine the daybreak of tomorrow. Think of what you will do - who you will see - where you will go - when all of this is over. Keep that vision strong inside of you, for it is truly dark now.

There will come a day when Trumpism will be held accountable for all they did to increase the hell of this nightmare. Those Republicans who, along with Trump’s administration, minimized this threat from the beginning, stripped public health resources for tax cuts, and destroyed the very mechanisms of government that we need now, must be voted out. We must never forget, as they try to rewrite history and write some fictional narrative of Trump as a hero, that their negligence increased the lethality of this virus. They are not responsible for the virus, but they are responsible for allowing it to grow so strong in our nation.

So even though the voting process in 2020 is in flux and we are not sure how people will be able to let their preferences known - remember that you will be able to vote. Remember you will be able to work on removing those who degraded healthcare for us, who ignored this virus to keep stocks high, and who blithely gave bad information which placed all of us at risk.

There comes a day…imagine it. We will see that sun rise again. The day will come when healthcare is a birthright in America…when ideology takes second place to facts and science…when a person’s livelihood enables them to live well…when good governance is a given.
